Every year, during the Thanh Minh festival (Day of the dead), the Dao Cham people in Nam Dam, Quan Ba, hold a fishing festival. The fish caught are evenly distributed among households in the village to prepare meals offered to ancestors and deities as a gesture of gratitude. This act also seeks blessings for a year of favorable weather, abundant harvests, and a prosperous life.
Nam Dam is a hamlet situated in Quan Ba commune, Quan Ba district, Ha Giang province, approximately 50 kilometers away from Ha Giang city. Nestled in a peaceful valley at the foot of the mountains, Nam Dam is the home of the Cham Dao people, the second-largest ethnic group in Quan Ba district.
